DESIGN OF BLANKING DIES

Posted by Amdani at 9:06 AM
Blanking is a metal stamping operation by which sheet metal pressing to get out the necessary profile sheet metal components. During the process of blanking blanking punch into the sheet metal and material forces to the blanking die. Part of sheet metal that comes out through the opening of blanking die is the component with the required profile. It is therefore important that the dimension of the blanking die profile is the same as the dimensions of the component profiles. In the blanking clearance cutting tools provided on the blanking punch.
Blanking die can be a single stage press tools where the component is produced at each stroke of the press blanking. At this stage there is one tool can blanking stamping operation performed before discharge or a lot of operations that can be done after blanking blanking profile depending on the complexity of the part, sheet thickness, the importance of different dimensions stamping operation was needed to produce the final component, etc.
In a progressive blanking press tools, stamping operations such as piercing, bending and forming carried out in various stages before the stage of evacuation. On stage blanking last component is pressed through a blanking die.
Die Design blanking
See below images for simple blanking die design. Part of the sheet metal is pressed through the death of a blank or component.
In the blanking die is provided with a relief angle ground straight after a certain length. This is to ensure that the dots are pressed through the blanking was not able to accumulate in the dead. If the vacancies have accumulated through the thickness of the blanking die and can cause damage to the blanking tool. As a general rule is 3 mm straight land to the lower sheet thickness of 3mm and the sheet metal above 3mm thickness, straight land can be equal to one sheet thickness. Total assistance is usually angles from 0 ° 30 'to 1 ° per side.

in the designing process, there is always leftover scrap, whenever there is no compromise made over design quality, made by sheet metal companies. your blog is simply amazing and informative.
